The truth about airplane death risk and car death risk

Hi,

It is obviously: In an airplane the percentaged rate of death risk per passenger is smaller than in a car. This is because many people are transported by one trip.
And the other perspective, which is often omitted is the question:

How many people would die, if they choose an airplane or a car?

1) statista.com[1] sad: There are ca. 400 death by airplane in the year 2012 around the world.
2) Wikipedia[3] sad: There are 1791 death in year 2012 by cars in Germany.
3) Wolframalpha[2] sad: There are 46,6 million cars in Germany.
4) statista.com[4] sad: There are about 20.000 airplanes/aeroplanes around the world.

We calculate:
Death by airplane rate = 400 / 20.000 = 0,02 = 2%
Death by car rate = 1791 / 46.600.000 = 0,000038 = 0,0038% = 0,38 proMille.

We see flying is more risky than driving! You probably know it already. ;-)

Regards, Sebastian
